Withnail and I is my own personal canon of what happened when the Great Intelligence came for the Eighth Doctor. Eight had amnesia and the Great Intelligence was just too drunk to bother with killing him, so they became friends and then eventually went on holiday by mistake. Meanwhile, Clara was just sitting in the background getting more and more confused…
